Tracy White breathes life and colour into any space her artwork appears.

She has been painting and drawing most of her life, and over the years she discovered that looking inward for inspiration and focusing on the process itself was central to creating her art.

Tracy has experimented with many different styles and subject matters, sometimes waffling due to a lack of confidence in her work and what she had to say as an artist. Today, she has arrived at a place where she paints for herself and the need to create. This approach is what has resonated so well with her audience.

“I often get in a state of flow where I’ve created my own time machine and realized hours have suddenly passed.”

The subject of her work is the process, and with each piece Tracy finds a balance between instinctive play and intentional construction.

The initial stages are a subconscious experimentation with colour, brush stroke, and mark making. The second part of her process is more analytical, consisting of observation and problem solving, testing out different solutions and outcomes which she later uses to edit her final work.

For Tracy, creating is more about standing still, forgetting the past, and not worrying about the outcome, and as a result, the outcome is beautiful, authentic, and unified.
