Established in 2016 by Bruce Porter, Iron Elements is a metal design and fabrication studio that comes from humble beginnings. Bruce started his career in 2003 as a labourer and quickly discovered his love and natural aptitude for welding. Today, he designs and crafts custom steel fixtures and home finishings with his team at Iron Elements full time.
Iron Elements draws inspiration from local designers, architecture and builders while maintaining their own unique style. Their designs are clean and modern, using raw steel to craft timeless pieces that spark conversation. From fireplaces and stair railings to custom furniture, each project is unique to their clients’ vision.

The passion Bruce has always had for welding is evident in the pieces their team creates, but his journey hasn’t always been easy. After establishing a successful career as a journeyman welder, he suffered a broken back after an accident in 2009. Despite being told he would likely never walk again, Bruce was on his feet the day after surgery. However, his career trajectory had to change due to his injuries, and he was no longer doing the welding work he loved so much.
When Bruce’s fiance’s salon needed to be renovated, he stepped up to craft custom finishings like shelving units, floating walls, and signage. Word got out about his quality work and it opened up the opportunity to start his own side business, which grew to become what Iron Elements is today.
