Caitlin pushes the boundaries of traditional printmaking by incorporating silkscreening with drawing and woodworking.
Caitlin Bodewitz is an Edmonton, Alberta based artist, originally from the mountains in northern British Columbia. She pursued her passion, which was deeply rooted in her upbringing, and completed a Bachelors of Fine Arts with Honors in Printmaking from the University of Calgary in 2012.
Her work is deeply rooted in celebrating, protecting, and educating others about the natural world. A great deal of her current body of work depicts both flora and fauna species at risk within Canada— sea otters, caribou, mountain holly fern— with a goal of creating conversation around conservation.
She has exhibited in galleries across western Canada and has work in the permanent collection at the Glenbow Museum. She has a long list of private and corporate commissions including Gibbs Gage Architects and Starbucks. She has created large installations and public art for the Rocky View School Board, Edmonton Public School Board, Crash Hotel, and for The City of Edmonton. She has been the recipient of Edmonton Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts grants.
